I have been there. I can help.

Peer Support Services/Peer-Mentoring is an evidence-based practice in which former mental health consumers provide professional support and encouragement and specialized services to individuals currently involved with the mental health system. Peer support specialists serve as a living example of recovery and successful community reintegration, and ongoing scholarly research continues to demonstrate the effectiveness of these professionals in:

  • Reducing their clients’ psychiatric hospitalization and incarceration rates
  • Reducing their clients’ substance abuse and illicit drug use, and
  • Improving recovery rates by fostering hope, self-efficacy, and empowerment among clients

Listen to these stories of hope.
